March 6, 2017 - The Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP), the premier industry association for heavy equipment and vehicle fleet management professionals, is pleased to announce this year's 2017 Hall of Fame Honoree.
Many individuals have played a tremendous role in AEMP’s success and the fleet manager profession. Each year, AEMP recognizes one person's outstanding efforts and work which have contributed to the advancement of the asset management profession.
This year's inductee to the AEMP Hall of Fame is J.Chris Ryan, CEM, who has served the heavy equipment industry with distinction for nearly 40 years.
Ryan recently retired from his long-time position as corporate equipment manager at Boh Brothers Construction Company, a 108 year old construction company based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
His leadership within the industry has impacted a broad span of industry organizations over the years including the Associated General Contractors, the Association of Construction Equipment Managers, the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Ryan has been a member of AEMP since 1983 and during that time has served several terms on the AEMP Board of Directors, was a member of the AEMP Executive Committee, and provided key leadership in the redevelopment of AEMP’s certification program, the Certified Equipment Manager in 2005. Ryan's vision and expertise contributed to many industry improvements, from establishing safety codes to developing elements of exams for certification.
In the true definition of leadership, Ryan has quietly demonstrated his commitment to the industry by assisting manufacturers and distributors in developing technician training. Ryan maintains the professional development of staff must be a priority to a fleet team, something he demonstrated by leading staff development for the Boh Brothers fleet organization.
In his typical humble way, Ryan attributes his success not to his own skills, but in his words, “to those who afforded me the opportunity to learn that there is more than one way to apply the principles of asset management.” That humble approach to his career is also reflected in his lifelong commitment to his community, as a leader in organized youth sports, to his efforts to assist inmates develop skills in the crafts for their reentry into life outside of prison.
AEMP is proud to honor Chris Ryan, CEM, for his lifelong commitment to his community, his profession, the industry, and to every man and woman who will follow in his footsteps as a professional equipment manager as AEMP’s 2017 Hall of Fame Inductee.
Formed in 1982, AEMP advances heavy duty on- and off-road equipment management as a career.
